"Dave Bowden came in and instantly engaged the children with his unique brand of poetry where he explains that all you need to do to be a poet is put the right words in the right order. He ignited the belief in the children that every one of them could create a poem about anything using rhythm and words. The poetry flowed from the children around the school."
Alison Harvey, Head Teacher Bridgewater Primary School
"David recently led a whole staff workshop for us. From the very first moment we were all entirely captivated by his skill and enthusiasm. His magical way of working with words made us all believe that we could become poets and that we could also inspire the children we work with to be poets too! Clever techniques and tips were imparted and with no wrong answers we all felt that we had achieved, learnt something new and that we also had an abundance of ideas to take back to the classroom. All teachers need some of David’s positivity in their lives!"
Jodie Matthews, Head Teacher, John Hellins Primary School
I would gladly recommend the Word Guerrilla to anyone in the teaching profession. Teaching a mixed age group (as I do) from years 3-6, I know that pitching work at an appropriate level can be a minefield! Dave liaised closely with me before his visit to tailor a day to the needs of the group. It was fantastic! The children were engrossed and, even the children who were previously 'poetry hesitant', were fully engaged.
They particularly enjoyed Word Guerrilla's live performance and performing their own work on stage. This is an experience that children should not be without. Thank you Word Guerrilla - you are welcome back to our school any time.

It was a pleasure to have Dave Bowden from Word Guerrilla, working with Year 12 students. He was instantly able to engage with the students and to spark their curiosity. His mix of performance, lively discussion and thought provoking tasks was energising and gave students a very different and worthwhile experience. Our young people came out of the session expressing how liberating they felt the afternoon had been and how refreshing it was to have the chance to be creative for the sake of one's own wellbeing.

The Word Guerrilla was fantastic! His workshops and performances were exciting, uplifting and inspirational to both students and staff! David understood the needs of our students and creatively and expertly tailored his sessions to meet their needs. Our students were captivated by his energy and enthusiasm, and we are already looking forward to him returning to our school next year!
